The sunny, warmer weather is here, outdoor parties are upon us, and with all of that comes drinking. Many people love a cooler of cold beers or popping bottles of rosé on those long weekends. And yet today, more and more people are opting out of alcohol (for a variety of reasons which is another article altogether). With the growing popularity of alcohol-free living, I’m receiving questions about the myriad of non-alcoholic beer and wine coming to store shelves. Let’s take a look.

Full disclosure, I haven’t tried many of them myself, so I had to hit up Google for brands and research if their benefits extend beyond being zero-proof. If you do your own research (which I always suggest) you’ll find plenty of articles and blogs ranking the tastes and varieties of these different non-alcoholic brands. What follows is a look into the nutritional pros and cons of these products.

Of primary importance, we must define “non-alcoholic” because some of these products can still have alcohol in them! Non-alcoholic drinks are typically 0.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). This means that while it’s probably unlikely, it’s possible it could show up on a breathalyzer depending on how much of these alternatives you drink.
