Navigating the energy bar aisle can be overwhelming, with countless options promising everything from optimal nutrition to the perfect workout fuel. As someone who is dedicated to helping you make informed choices, people often send me bars they’re curious about, like Thunderbird Real Food Energy Bars. Let’s see if they live up to the hype.

Thunderbird, founded by two triathletes in Austin, Texas, markets its bars as “superfood energy bars made with only real food ingredients.” What’s most interesting is that in reading the founders’ story, it stood out to me that they are triathletes, which makes me consider what their nutritional needs are versus what the typical consumers’ needs are. I’m expecting these bars to be higher in carbs with a bit of protein while being lower in fiber to help give them energy and fuel for endurance. I keep exploring their site to see if I’m right!

With official stamps like non-GMO, certified paleo, “crafted in Austin,” and promoting they are plant-based, and gluten free with zero grams of added sugar, they sound appealing. If you read my articles often, you know, I didn’t stop there. I took a critical look and asked, “What are we really getting here?”
