A Bite-Size Read for Your Health and Waistline

Have you heard the tale of the bamboo tree? I came across it awhile back, and knew I had to share it with you! There is a written version, but there are a few YouTube videos as well if you’re more visual.

It starts with a man who’s feeling exceptionally frustrated with life. Despite all his efforts and hard work, he’s experiencing failure after failure…only failure. In this feeling of defeat, the man exiles himself to the woods, leaving everything behind because, “what’s the point!” In the woods, he meets a hermit, in whom he confides about his frustrations and pleads with the hermit to give him one good reason not to quit. So, the hermit, in his infinite wisdom, points out a fern plant and a bamboo tree nearby.

The hermit explains that he planted each seed for both plants at the same time and took very good care of them. He gave them both water, plenty of light, and fertilizer to grow. Within a short time, the fern quickly grew but the bamboo, even with continuous care, did not grow for years and years! Despite this, the hermit didn’t give up, and continued to tend for the bamboo tree, as he did the fern.

Finally, after five long years, the bamboo produced a tiny sprout and within six months, that same bamboo tree was a hundred feet tall! How…
