The Thing You Didn’t Realize Makes You Hungry
A Bite-Size Read for Your Health & Waistline
I have to believe you’ve been there too. Sitting on the couch, watching tv and you see a commercial for chips…now you want nachos! For me, it was years ago, when I had simultaneous fantasies of being a chef, having a cooking show and finally having the body of my dreams, no more dieting. I’d be watching the Food Network and next thing I knew I was in the kitchen seeing what I could put together because now I was hungry. These days, it’s probably more likely to be someone’s YouTube cooking channel or the depths of scrolling recipe reels on Instagram. Either way, it’s like cravings bubble up out of nowhere. As I became a health coach and recognized my own patterns, I started to call this food porn. The things I didn’t realize made me hungry. And I created some new tools for myself to help in these situations.
As they say, awareness is the first step. While I’m inclined to respond to this with an eyeroll, it’s true. The first step I took after this was making a little rule for myself, I could only watch the Food Network while I was at the gym. While I wouldn’t recommend this approach to my clients (the issues with this approach could be an entire article), it worked for me and perhaps helpful for you to hear (errr…read).
