Maybe you’ve heard of NAD? It’s making waves in the health and wellness world as “the fountain of youth” magazine. Yet, what exactly is it, and why does it matter so much to your well-being?

NAD stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme found in every single cell of your body. It plays a vital role in keeping your systems running smoothly. Without NAD, your body wouldn’t be able to convert the food you eat into energy, nor would it repair the wear and tear your cells experience every day. In fact, NAD supports a variety of functions, from metabolism to brain function and even DNA repair. NAD and autophagy, which we’ve explored before, go hand-in-hand.

The catch, however, is that as you age, your NAD levels naturally decline. This drop in NAD is linked to many signs and symptoms of aging — slower metabolism, increased fatigue, and even the visible effects of aging, like wrinkles and reduced resilience to stress.
