How often do you think about milestones? What exactly defines a milestone? We often think of them as big birthdays or big life transitions. My 40th birthday had me thinking…are all milestones the same? And as a health coach, I took what I was experiencing and found insights for my clients.

So, September 14th, 2023, I hit the big 4–0! People are always surprised, thinking I’m closer to 30 so as that day approached, it sparked conversations as people asked how I felt about turning 40. Often, they shared their own wisdom from hitting that milestone. These chats got me thinking, and naturally, given my work, I also thought about milestones related to our health. Think of hitting certain health markers or (fingers crossed) avoiding any health hiccups. In another realm of milestones, there are life events like weddings (I haven’t done that yet) or starting a family (still on my to-do list). And speaking of kids, each school grade they conquer is like a mini milestone, right?

What I’ve realized, though, is that these moments might not feel huge as they happen. It’s only when we take a step back and reflect that we see them as milestones, almost like we didn’t realize we were making memories at the time.
