If you’re on the path toward a wellness goal or even a business goal, we’re at that time of year. The time when people want to “throw in the towel,” “hang it up,” or forget the towel existed altogether. We can feel burned out or like we’ve messed up too many times or haven’t made the progress we thought we would by now. The reality is this is the exact opposite of what would best serve us. As a health coach, there’s a little tool I give my clients to keep in their back pockets. It’s called KMF: Keep Moving Forward.

When those thoughts arise, the negative self-talk that says “f-it,” say to yourself KMF. Just KMF. The only way to fail is to quit. Everything else along the way is teaching us! When life happens, our new habits don’t play out as ideally as we’d hoped or expected, it’s OK!

Wellness (and any goal) is a continuing journey and there is no such thing as failure, only progress. And there are things we can do every day to take action in our lives in the direction of our goals. Mistakes and finding out what doesn’t work, the things you’re calling failure, help us learn to bob and weave as long as we keep going. Certainly, this idea is easier said than done, so here are tips to help you put this mantra into practice.
