Picture this: you’re at the grocery store, eyeing the bread aisle. You decide if you’re going to go for the bread, you’re going for the real deal, fresh-baked bread. Staring at all the loaves on the shelves you’re contemplating sourdough or rye, seeds or no seeds and perhaps you notice the tiny plastic tags securing the bread bags, each a different color, but ignore them. What do they mean?
These tags aren’t random markers; they convey valuable information about the freshness of the bread. The colors correspond to the day of the week the bread was placed on the shelf. It’s a nifty system that can help us gauge the freshness of the bread.
Here’s the color code:
- Blue for Monday
- Green for Tuesday
- Red for Thursday
- White for Friday
- Yellow for Saturday
