Cannabis has become a hot topic! With 21 states legalizing it recreationally, and 38 states legalizing it medically, we’re either hearing excitement over possibilities or concerns over pervasive use. No matter which camp you’re in, there’s likely a host of misconceptions at play. As well, research on marijuana usage is mostly dedicated towards men, but thanks to a recent bill passed in 2022, we can keep our eyes peeled for more research related to women’s health, and how beneficial it could be!

To allay fears and provide insights for safe and effective use, I’ve spoken with a few experts to bring you answers to the most pressing questions.

What is Cannabis? (And some history)

Before diving into consumption, let’s set the foundation. Cannabis is a plant that can have psychoactive properties. Cannabis contains cannabinoids which interplay with the human endocannabinoid system (we’ll come back to this). The two main cannabinoids are CBD and THC.
